This post is old, but the court recently made a decision. We (the employer) won. It just goes to show you...never put more effort into your unemployment claim than you did looking for a job. It will never work out for you.

I've also seen companies migrate towards the idea of only recruiting locally (i.e. the ad actually says "local candidates only").

In one case, I responded and asked if they would consider an applicant who was qualified and willing to relocate at their own expense. Their answer - a firm "no."

I saw people holding similar signs at my local Rite Aid. It's all for show. However, I do find it funny that the sign holders are only there from 9a - 5p, Monday through Friday.

If the union really wanted to make a point, they'd have them out there during the weekend, where there is usually more traffic. But I guess there is no weekend work in sign-holder land.

This is a scary topic for everyone in the field. The good news is that plenty of information is being made available though.

I've also been monitoring the carriers to see what they're making public. For example, here is a web site that Cigna put to help explain the PPACA.

As I was researching this story more last night, I came across several interesting articles questioning if Ohio State had done the proper background screening on Brown, as it appears that he'd been in trouble with the law before. This story continues to develop...

HR Whiz: What readers should know any appeal by EEOC will likely fail. This involves the criminal statutes Tite 18 sec. 1001 false statements on an official document EEOC made a determination based upon an investigation. EEOC did not interview the witnesses. How did EEOC determine a violation of the statutes it enforces? By making a false statement that an investigation including the interviews are part of the determination. EEOC simply bluffed its way in court and lost. And will lose on appeal. MORE INFO COMMENT REPLY
